Lyrics
A little talk to Jesus, how it soothes the rugged road;
How it seems to help me, as I faint beneath my load.
When my heart is crushed with sorrow, and my eyes with tears are dim;
There is nought that yield me comfort like a little talk with Him.
I tell Him I am weary, and I fain to be at rest;
Daily, hourly longing for a home upon His breast.
He answers me so sweetly, in tones of tender love;
“I am coming soon to take thee to the father’s home above”.
For this is what I’m waiting, His lovely face to see;
I am not afraid to say it, as I know He’s awaiting me.
He gave his life for ransom, to make me all his own;
He can’t forget His promise, to me His purchased one.
I know the way is dreary, to the yonder far-off climb;
But a little talk with Jesus will while away the time.
Yet the more I get to know Him, and His grace explore,
It only sets me longing to know Him more and more.
I cannot live without Him, and nor would I if I could;
He is my daily portion, my medicine and food.
He is altogether lovely, none can with Him compare;
He is chief among ten thousand, the fairest of the fair.
I often feel impatience, and mourn His long delay;
I never can be settled while He remains away.
We shall not long be parted, for I know He’ll quickly come;
And we shall live together, in that ever happy home.
And in my Father’s presence, where many mansions be;
I’ll sweetly talk with Jesus, and He will talk with me.
