Lyrics
Leanabh an àigh,
An leanabh aig Màiri,
Rugadh san stàball,
Rìgh nan Dùl;
Thàinig do fhàsach
Dh’fhulang nar n-àite –
Son’ iad an àireamh
Bhitheas dha dlùth!
Ged a bhios leanaban
Aig rìghrean na talmhainn
‘N greadhnachas garbh
Is anabarr mùirn,
‘S geàrr gus am falbh iad,
‘S fàsaidh iad anfhann,
An àilleachd ‘s an dealbh
A’ searg san ùir.
Cha b’ionanna an t-uan
Thàinig gar fuasgladh –
Iriseal , stuama
Ghluais e ‘n tùs;
E naomh gun truailleachd,
Cruithear an t-sluaigh,
Dh’èirich E suas
Le buaidh on ùir.
Lyrics Translated
The child of joy,
The child of Mary,
Born in a stable,
King of the Universe,
He came into the desolate world
To suffer in our place,
Happy are those
Who trust in him.
Though babes are born
To kings on Earth,
In joyful celebration,
They will soon grow weak
And leave us,
Their beauty and form
Will diminish in the grave.
Nothing equals the lamb
Who came to rescue,
Humble and modest
From when He was first conceived,
Holy and without flaw,
Creator of humanity,
He rose triumphant
From the grave.
