Lyrics
Sheas a’ mhàthair am bròn bàite
Aig Crann-ceusaidh deurach cràidhteach,
Am bun a Mic ’s E’n spàirn ro ghoirt.
Cridhe caomh bha brùite, dubhach,
Briste ‘g osnaich ’s a’ tuireadh -
Rinn an claidheamh-guin a lot.
Ochòin! Bu chràidhteach is bu chianail
Moire Màthair bheannaicht’ Chrìosda,
’S E ga phianadh air a’ Chrois.
Lyrics Translated
His Mother stood in drown in sorrow
At a tearful, painful cross
At the feet of her Son, as He was in terrible pain.
A gentle heart that was bruised, sorrowful,
Broken and sighing and lamenting
The painful sword caused his wound.
Lamentation! How painful and terrible
Blessed Mary Mother of Christ
And He being pained on the Cross.
